CedarBridge Students Career Day At Hotel

The Fairmont Southampton is today [Apr.28] hosting four Senior School students as part of CedarBridge Academy’s Career Day 2011. In its second year of existence, Career Day is a component of CedarBridge’s student guidance program and provides pupils with the opportunity to be exposed to their desired careers before they enter the work force.

Director of Public Relations at Fairmont Southampton Jamahl Simmons said, “It is a very special privilege to be able to partner with CedarBridge Academy on Career Day 2011. We share their belief that our young people should experience first hand the occupational opportunities available in Bermuda. We welcome the chance to encourage more Bermudians to enter, work and grow in this important sector of our economy.”

Today S3 students Kyasia Scott-Fishenden and Ashleigh Lambert will be shadowing Sous Chef Herbert Bascome in the Main Kitchen at the Fairmont Southampton. In the Fairmont Southampton’s Willow Stream Spa, S3 students Jazmyne Symonds and KeiVaughnae Simons will be shadowing 2005 CedaBbridge Academy graduate and two time VIP Award nominee Ashley Shepherd, Spa Experience Coordinator.

Mr. Simmons continued, “Chef Bascome is an excellent spokesman for Bermuda tourism and the Fairmont Southampton. His decades of experience in the industry are inspiring and his passion for customer service is infectious. With Spa Experience Coordinator Shepherd, the students have an opportunity to learn from someone who started out like them, went on to graduate from Cedarbridge and is now playing a major role in making our Willow Stream Spa a success.”
