Upcoming: Junior Service League Gala Ball

April 12, 2011

GalaTicketannouncement_000The Bermuda Junior Service League announced its 75th anniversary of serving the community. The League invites the community to join its 75th anniversary celebrations at its Polynesian themed Gala Ball on Saturday 30 April on the Great Sound View Lawn at the Fairmont Southampton Princess.

The Bermuda Junior Service League celebrates its anniversary every five years with a major fundraising gala. This year the goal is to raise over $20,000 to support the League’s educational programmes.

“We are extremely proud of the Bermuda Junior Service League’s 75 years of history in Bermuda.” said Sherrie Nusum, The League’s Vice President. “The charitable projects and volunteer work carried out by the League have been numerous and varied. Education is our primary focus this year and we hope to see the community come out and support us with our fundraising efforts on April 30th.”

This year’s 75th anniversary ball promises to be a spectacular evening of outdoor entertainment featuring local performers the Bermuda Fire Dancers, the Bermuda School of Music Steel Pan Orchestra, the Junior Premier Players from Berkeley Drama Club, and music and dancing with the Tom Ray Band. The League has been working hard to put together a first-class event with outstanding entertainment and Polynesian inspired cuisine to ensure guests receive great value and a fun-filled evening while supporting the community.

Proceeds from the anniversary gala will go directly to the League’s three main educational programmes: Each September Stuff the Bus provides pencil cases and school supplies to all students entering public primary school. The annual Victoria Cox Memorial Middle and High Schools Debate Tournament encourages Bermuda’s students to join debate teams and enter this competitive debating event. Last but not least, the Mrs. C. Vail-Zuill Scholarship is awarded annually to help a Bermudian student continue degree studies overseas.

The Bermuda Junior Service League invites the community to support this worthy fundraising event by purchasing patron tickets at $300 or non-patron tickets at $200 per person. The event will start at 6pm with cocktails, 7pm for Dinner, and the dress code is tropical formal or black tie.

In addition to a fabulous night of food and entertainment, patrons will receive premium seating, an event memory book, and favour bag. Patrons’ names or company logo will be published on event materials. As a bonus the Fairmont Southampton Princess is offering a special room rate to all guests wishing to take the elevator home for the night.
