Additional Charge For Burrows & Waldron
In Magistrates Court this morning [May 5], adding to the string of charges already laid against them, Kyril Burrows and Calvin Waldron were charged with a further offence. A third co-defendant was said by the Prosecutor to be off the Island and not due to return until the end of May.
After exchanges between the Prosecutor and the Magistrate, it was agreed that the information would be amended and proceed only after deleting the third defendants name; leaving him to be added at the Long Form Preliminary Inquiry slated for 13th July.
The fresh charge, which can only be dealt with in Supreme Court, was that on diverse dates between 25th April 2005 and 19th September 2005, the two defendants caused the Bermuda Government to deliver money to the owner of an excavating company.
Because the charge is indictable, neither was required to enter a plea. All three should appear for the Long Form Preliminary Inquiry on 13th July.
In March 2011, the two defendants who appeared today, as well as two others, were charged with a host of offences including various counts of providing false documents, obtaining money from Government by the use of those documents, and of concealing money which was the proceeds of criminal activity. The defendants were previously employed by the Government.
