Atlanta Media Showcases Bermudian Athlete

May 31, 2011

Good thing it’s the summer, or else there might be a tug-of-war going on for Nia Robertson’s basketball talents. Not between schools, but between countries.

Robertson, a dual citizen of the United States and Bermuda and a standout basketball player at the Atlanta Girls’ School the last two years, made the Bermuda National Team in May and has begun training for the NatWest Island Games June 25 through July 1.

They will take place on the Isle of Wight, located in the English Channel. Bermuda, a British territory off the east coast of the U.S., will face other small island nations in the 14th edition of the games.

Robertson, 17, has the distinction of being by far the team’s youngest member, and she’ll join her aunt, Teshae Thompson, on the 12-member squad.
