Jardines Announces Retirement From Its Board

Jardine_Matheson_Holdings_logoIn a filing to the Bermuda Stock Exchange, dated May 12, 2011, the Bermuda-incorporated Jardine Group of Companies announced the retirement, from the respective boards of directors, of Mr. R. C. Kwok.

The retirement was effective May 12. Mr. Kwok joined the board of the company in 1990. He has been a director of the group’s holding company since 1972. He is a Chartered Accountant and joined the group in 1964.

The collective term, “Jardine Group” in this instance refers to: Jardine Matheson Holdings Limited; Jardine Strategic Holdings Limited; Dairy Farm International Holdings Limited; HongKong Land Holdings Limited; and, Mandarin Oriental International Limited.

Founded as a trading company in China in 1832, Jardine Matheson is today a diversified business group focused principally on Asia. Its businesses comprise a combination of cash generating activities and long-term property assets.

The group’s interests include Jardine Pacific, Jardine Motors, Jardine Lloyd Thompson, Hongkong Land, Dairy Farm, Mandarin Oriental, Jardine Cycle & Carriage and Astra International.

These companies are leaders in the fields of engineering and construction, transport services, insurance broking, property investment and development, retailing, restaurants, luxury hotels, motor vehicles and related activities, financial services, heavy equipment, mining and agribusiness.

The group also has a minority investment in Rothschilds Continuation, the global financial advisory group.
