May 14: KBB Islandwide Spring Clean Up

May 3, 2011

The KBB 2011 Island Wide Spring Clean will take place on Saturday 14 May starting at 9:00 am.

Over the past three years KBB volunteers have contributed over 10,500 hours of their time to pick up almost one hundred tons of litter, recyclables and bulky waste items from Bermuda’s roadsides, beaches and railway trails.

“Despite our efforts at KBB we still see trash carelessly left behind. It spoils our beautiful island and threatens the health of the environment and wildlife,” said a KBB spokesperson.

KBB has already identified several locations in need of a spring clean including Whale Bone Bay in Ferry Reach, Great Bay Road, Coney Island Road, The Crawl Railway Trail, Spittal Pond and the eastern entrance, Collectors Hill, Bandroom Lane & Pig’s Field, Woodlands Road, Rural Hill, Ord Road, Cobbs Hill Road, White Hill field and Railway Trail, Hog Bay Park, Somerset Long Bay, Cambridge Road and Cockburn Road in Dockyard.

Here’s how you can join in:

  • Find a location that needs a spring clean
  • Gather together a team of colleagues, neighbours, family or friends
  • Decide on a time of the day, or if necessary schedule for Sunday 15 May
  • Call KBB on 295-5142 to register your location or ask KBB to assign your group a location. Get supplies from KBB
  • Remember that students can receive credit for Community Service

After the Spring Clean:

  • Contact KBB again to report the number and location of blue recycle and trash bags collected and the bulky waste items so that KBB can arrange waste collection
  • Please contact KBB for a clean up location near you at 295 5142,  799 5142 or kbb@northrock.bm

  1. My two cents says:

Damn these pesky people that care of the stupid environment! How dare they pick up our trash. Always causing trouble.
