Golf Open Championships: Day #1 Results

After the first day of the 2011 Bermuda Open Championships, Bermuda’s Daniel Augustus and US Professional Jordan Mitchell are deadlocked at the top in the Professional Division.

They each enjoy a share of the lead after posting respectable 2 over 73’s. US Professional Brennan Webb is in third place on 5 over 76.

In the Junior Amateur division, Bermuda amateur Spencer Wideman records a 3 over 74 in his first round to take a slim one shot lead over fellow Bermudian Ryan Benevides who posted a 4 over 74. In 3rd place is visiting US resident, Gray Yancy on 5 over 76.  Mr Yancy also leads the net division at 2 under par, while Spencer Wideman currently sits in second.

In the Women’s Open Amateur Ebonie Burgess fired an 81, 10 over par in her first round to take an 8 shot lead over Katrin Burnie whom posted an 18 over 89.

A total of 88 golfers registered for the 2011 Bermuda Open Championships, which is taking place over a four day span at the Port Royal Golf Club in Southampton.
