Minister Minors said, “I am delighted to welcome this year’s successful candidates into the David Allen Internship Programme. The students chosen for this programme are ambitious, they are enthusiastic and they have demonstrated a genuine interest in our tourism industry.

“The Bermuda Government will continue to concentrate its efforts on the next generation that will succeed us, and through this internship programme, these young individuals will gain a greater understanding of our tourism product, and an even greater awareness of the marketing and sales initiatives of the Bermuda Department of Tourism.”

Since 1999, the David H. Allen Memorial Internship has afforded many young people an opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the tourism product.

The BDOT selects and places Bermudian University students at either one of its international marketing agencies, New York sales office or the BDOT head office in Bermuda.

  1. Wonderful says:

This is a wonderful opportunity for young people who wish to enter the tourism industry. I wish each of them much success.

I would like to suggest one way to improve this programme. Provide an opportunity for a local tourism and/or hospitality student studying at Bermuda College at times this group/our local students are overlooked.

I am not sure how Catherine Finsness qualified for the programme when she is studying psychology and the criteria for the programme does not include this field of study. Nevertheless a good way to engage students.
