Videos: Allen & Trott Receive Medals
At the conclusion of the first day of competition in the 2011 Island Games in the Isle of Wight, Bermuda has already picked up two medals, and you can watch both medal ceremonies below.
Sean Trott finished the half marathon in 1:12:22 to give Bermuda our first medal of these Games, and his teammate Stephen Allen finished 11th in a time of 1:16.11, giving Bermuda the bronze medal in the team competition. Bermuda’s lone female representative in the half marathon Deon Breary also did well, claiming 9th with a time of 1:28.52 – which is a personal best.
The two athletes received their medals at an award ceremony this evening [June 26]. Both men were all smiles, and very happy with their performances, with Mr Trott saying “it has not really set in yet, this is the first day, the first medals and I am really excited right now,” and Mr Allan crediting hard training for their success.
