Volleyball: Bermuda Wins Bronze In St. Martin

The Bermuda Junior Women’s Volleyball team has won a Bronze Medal in the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association inaugural 2011 Junior Women Championships which recently concluded in French St. Martin.

Antigua and Barbuda outplayed hosts French St. Martin to win the gold medal, and Bermuda outplayed St. Vincent and Grenadines [25-16, 25-18, 25-27, 25-23.] to win the bronze this past Saturday [June 25].

After the game, St. Vincent’s Coach Martin Eardly said, “Bermuda played better than we had expected and we were over confident as we had beaten them earlier.”

Before the competition, Bermuda’s captain said she expects good competition, some fun and said the team will play to the best of their ability and focus on the game at hand. Team coach Donna Smith and manager Brenda Dale were of the view the team will play to the best of their ability and should grow as a result of their experience.
