World Ball Hockey Champs: Bermuda Beat UK

Bermuda’s National Ball Hockey Team have won their opening match in the 2011 Ball Hockey World Championship in Slovakia, defeating Great Britain 6-1 today [June 21].

Although this is the team’s first official game, it is their second win overall as on Friday [June 17] Bermuda beat Hong Kong 4-1 during in a warm-up match.

Ben Mann gave Bermuda the lead in the 16th minute with Chris Merritt getting the assist, and Great Britain equalized in the 19th minute when Chris Morrison scored.

Bermuda went back in front when Dave Gazzard scored in the 21st minute, this time Cory Caouette got the assist, eight minutes later Gazzard found the net again with Chad Critchley gaining the assist.

One minute later it was 4 – 1 to Bermuda when Scott Campbell received a pass from Darren Maksymetz and scored, in the 34th minute Critchley put his name on the scoresheet taking a pass from Caouette. Benn Mann scored again to make it 6 – 1 to Bermuda in the 39th minute.

Bermuda’s team consists of: Pete Brodsky, Rich Campbell, Scott Campbell, Cory Caouette, Chris Coleman, Chad Critchley, Troy Dort, Ronnie Dzurus, Dave Gazzard, Mike Gazzard, Jeff Ingelman, Chris Lemieux, Darren Maksymetz, Ben Mann, Shane McKay, Chris Merritt, Monte Palsat, Cam Poland, J. Tremblay, and Tom Worthington-White.
