15-Yr-Old & 16-Yr-Old Arrested For Assault
Two teenagers were arrested after an 18-year-old man was hospitalized after being assaulted while walking on Washington Street this past Saturday [July 16]. The victim underwent surgery after jaw was broken during the assault, and has since been released from hospital.
A Police spokesperson said, “Two young men, aged 16 and 15 years old respectively, have been arrested in connection with the assault of an 18 year old Pembroke man in the Washington Street, Pembroke area sometime between 2am and 2:30am Saturday, July 16th.”
“Inquiries are ongoing and police are continuing to appeal for any witnesses, particularly anyone who may have been in the Washington Street area or in the vicinity of Mount Saint Agnes Academy around the time of the incident and saw any suspicious individuals or activity. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.
Where were the parents when their 15 & 16 yr olds were out at 2:30 in the morning!

Very happy to see that people have been arrested for this terrible crime. Just hope they can actually get convicted of it. Also glad to see the police are doing something besides driving round in their cars all day.

I agree with you Messenger, all these young kids roaming the streets at wee hours in the morning. If the belt was used more often we wouldn’t have the problems that we have. Parents are too weak, we look to the Government and the rest of the community to do the jobs that we as parents should be doing. You wonder why the thugs are getting away with a slap on the wrist when the commit a crime???? We haven’t taught them what real tough love is all about.

Never to late if they live under your roof never to late. That is the problem when they turn 18 parents say they are adults. If I support them meaning roof over their head, food in their stomach, clothes on their backs etc etc., they still under my controll never to late.

Totally agree. Notice how things have changed drastically after they told us not to smack the children. Now they are growing up believing they are above the law. They have grown up not learning anything about consequences and then when they get older we expect them to follow the laws of the land and if they don’t, “NOW” there will be consequences, we will fine you or send you to jail. If you had let the parents teach them about consequences for their actions when they are younger we might not be dealing with all this mess now.

I wish I could say that this type of event is new, but unfortunately it’s almost become an acceptable way of life. Between work, bills, more work, extra bills, your own family, it doesn’t seem like there are enough hours in the day to address the other issues that have affected society. This is a vicious cycle and if we truly want to address youth violence, drugs, political scandal/corruption, business scandal/corruption and the multitude of problems that plague our society, it’s time to slow down and step outside of our comfort zones.
If we want different..we need to do different. Start at home by doing something selflessly for a loved one in hopes it will carry into the rest of the community.

let me guess… the kids were black right? wouldn’t surprise me. it seems like almost every single violent crime in this country is committed by them. Nobody does anything. Nobody can identify the criminals cuz its always, “Black man in jeans and shirt”. The crimes against tourists have gotten worse and almost every single day. And soon bermuda will have no tourism and a crap reputation. All thanks to our buddies, who seem to think we need to live-or-die like we are animals in Africa.

These animals will continue to get worse, until they start doing what they literally do in africa – which is kill someone for a piece of pizza or a can of soda. They will kill people for fun. They will target whites or other races and just murder them for no reason other than genocidal hatred. That is what Africa is like, and down there you cannot even stop at a stop light, because gangs of men will run out at your car, shoot you dead, and walk off with the cellphone you had on your dashboard.
Thank God at least these people in bermuda dont practice Voodoo or black magic, like their counterparts in africa, or their ancestors did in pride. Because then we would have SERIOUS problems. Yep folks. 50 years ago bermuda was not like this. But we have watched this disease grow, and now the violent crimes are getting worse and worse. We can only pray that God stops it before its too late and that He cleans this island to shine as the gem it once was.
We have a real problem with the culture and behaviour of our black youth especially, and sadly yes, even the older generations amongst them. Over and over.
This issue is REAL and must be addressed by all the black familes at home over dinner. If we don’t we will die out as a nation, and become a third-world hell on earth.

Most of the kids are just spoiled. Lets remember the media reports aren’t always accurate. There are many white kids who attend private schools breaking and entering into homes to steal things that their parents could easily buy for them. This isn’t about race at all! Don’t create a vision that young black men are solely responsible for the crimes being committed of today…use your peripheral vision and you will see other colors of the rainbow involved.

Maybe all the black related incidents are the ones promoted in the media! I know a few years ago, that WHITE DUDE was caught having 250 K in cash along with like 4 guns in his house. Did anyone ever hear about that? NO! Was he ever locked up!?! NO. I still see him roaming around. You want to say black are in the spot light but that because the whites who do the wrong doings always get off the hook somehow and we never hear about it. I many instances, it may be the black doing the dirty work, but it is the white who is supplying it or financing it. They are just to blame.
If you are talking about the gentleman with the initials SW he did receive a 14 year sentence and got another year added on for getting caught with weed while in prison.
The others with him got off because he took the “rap” for them all as it was his house in which the drugs, cash and weapons were found.

Put them in a weekly criminal parade wearing prison clothes labeled with what they did. Burglar, rapist, child molestor, muggar etc. Also put them to work. Make community service mean something. Pick up trash. The Island is disgraceful with roadside trash.
Don’t blame the parents. Most don’t even have parents. Whatever happened to that law making parents accountable for their kids anyway? Yet another PLP law suggested with great fanfare that never happened.
i agree with some of the comments. I must say this WHERE ARE THE PARENTS? there is no way in hell that my 13,14,15,16 yr old etc will still be out at that hour of the morning. I remember back in the day when i was 17yrs old not old enough to go out to a club but i was in 1 and i will never forget my father found out where i was and came in there and dragged me out by ny hair all the way home. it was very embarrising for me and all my friends laughed at me. still to this day we laugh about it and i am now 28yrs old. i say that to say parents seem to be embarass to correct there children. i can say i am not afraid of my son who is only 9yrs old right now. i am not saying to abuse your child but a little correction will help every once and a while,maybe if u do that some of these kids will not do half the things they do.
These children should go to prison, i don’t care how old they are… if they’re old enough to commit a crime like this then they’re old enough to pay the penalty for it.
This children are the same children that was fighting up at the bermuda college my son was telling me about, they even try to start with him. hat goes off to the bermuda police force these children shall be punihsed to make them feel. If not, they will turn around and do it again. & it hurts to say that my son said these children was screaming out p**k S*** all night
