ISL Soccer League: Knights, Titans Win
[Updated] Lindo’s ISL Soccer fans were treated to two one goal games last night [June 30] at National Stadium. The Knights won their 10th straight regular season game when they defeated the Storm 7-6. The Titans edged the Apex 6-5 in game two.
In last night’s first match the Knights spotted the Storm a 5-2 halftime lead before scoring five third quarter goals to take control of the game. Ian Coke and Vincent Minors Jr. each scored two goals for the Knights, who were without starting GK Nigel Burgess.
Che Clark filled in and made nine saves for the Knights. The Storm jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the second quarter getting goals from five different players, but Ian Coke’s goal right before the half gave the Knights momentum and sent them on their way to the 7-6 victory.
Game two was another one goal affair. Jahron Dickinson scored the first goal for the Apex, but the Titans seized control from there on. Jamie Smith scored two goals and the Titans built a 5-2 third quarter lead. The Apex scored right before the end of the third quarter to cut the margin to two goals and Heyes Wolfe scored to start the 4th quarter.
Aaron Nelson’s goal restored the Titans two goal cushion and was important because Jahron Dickinson scored late in the game to cut the lead to one. The Apex could never get the equalizer and the Titans held on for the 6-5 victory.
