Somerset & St George’s Cup Match Trials
[Updated with photos/videos] The St. George’s Cricket Club and the Somerset Cricket Club’s Trial matches are well underway and expected to conclude shortly, and the teams for next weeks Cup Match expected to be chosen late tonight [July 23]. Premier Paula Cox briefly stopped by both east and west games.
At the Wellington Oval in St George’s, the Vice President XI posted a score of 272/7, Jason Anderson was the top scorer with 65, while Delyone Borden was on 49 not out. Justin Pitcher had bowling figures of 12-3-35-2 for the President XI. At last check, the President XI are 19/3, with Stefan Kelly picking up two early wickets.
The St George’s President Select consisted of Clay Smith [Captain], Chris Foggo, Christian Burgess, Regino Smith, Richard Todd, Allan Douglas, Justin Pitcher, Ryan Steede, Lateef Trott, Zeko Burgess and David Lovell.
The Vice President Select included Delyone Borden [Captain], Jason Anderson, Mischeal Paynter, Glenn Blakeney, Landro Minors, Detroy Smith, Shae Pitcher, Clay Darrell, Rudell Pitcher, Kyle Hodsoll, and Stefan Kelly.

At the Somerset Cricket Club, both openers Dion Stovell and Terryn Fray scored 103 as the President XI were bowled all out for 289. At last check, the Vice President XI are 51/5, with Jacobi Robinson taking three early wickets.
The Somerset President Select included Jekon Edness [Captain], Dion Stovell, Terryn Fray, Stephen Outerbridge, Tre Manders, Jacobi Robinson, Kavon Fubler, Justin Corday, Kamel Easton, Antonio Darrell, and Chikosi Basden.
The members of the Somerset Vice President Select team were Jordan DeSilva [Captain], Shaquille Jones, Chris Douglas, Janeiro Tucker, Deunte Darrell, Kian Butterfield, Derek Brangman, Del Hollis, Kevin Hurdle, Joshua Commissiong and Alex Dore.

Last year Cup Match ended in a draw, which was the fourth year in a row the match has ended in a draw, with the last time one side won being 2006 when St George’s won by 7 wickets.
The four consecutive draws are the second longest in Cup Match history, bested only by a stretch in the 1970s when the match ended in a draw for five consecutive years.
