Volleyball U19 Men Finish 2nd In Championship

In their first ever international tournament, the Bermuda U19 Men’s Volleyball Team finished in 2nd place earning them a Silver Medal in the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association Junior Men’s Volleyball Championship. The tournament took place in Anguilla and began on July 9th and ended on July 12th.

The team, lead by Captain Daniel Fiddick and veteran player Joshua Malpas took 2nd place in their round robin pool to advance to the Semi Finals. In their Semi Finals match on Monday they fought a tough match against French St. Martin. Bermuda prevailed after splitting the first 4 sets before dominating French St. Martin 15-5 in the 5th set. In the finals, Bermuda faced St. Vincent and the Grenedines in their quest for the Gold. In an excellent match with some very close sets, St Vincent won the match, 3 sets to 1, earning Bermuda a Silver Medal.

As runners up in this event, Bermuda has earned a place in the Caribbean Zonal Championships, taking place in Jamaica later this month.

Head Coach, Mark Hamilton, and Assistant Coach, Rebeka Sousa, have worked very hard with the Junior Men over the past months and are very proud of the team on multiple levels. Not only are they proud of the team’s accomplishment but they are also proud of the individual players and how they represented Bermuda with honor and distinction.
