Football: Bermuda U/17 Women’s Team
Bermuda’s U-17 Women’s World Cup team will compete in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) qualifying tournament in Bahamas. The tournament will feature three teams, Bermuda, Antigua & Barbuda and host country Bahamas beginning Sunday August 14th – Thursday August 18th.
The U-17 squad has been hard at training these past few months at the BFA Field as they prepare for this international World Cup Qualifier. Director of Youth, Devarr Boyles & Assistant Coach, and Aaron Denkins will administer the 18 member squad.
Mr Boyles, has seen the girls mature in leaps and bounds over the past few months as he has put them through their paces preparing them for this day to arrive.
“These games will allow us to gauge our emerging girls program here in Bermuda. The girls are very excited to compete in this tournament. Two of the girls will provide international experience, most recently competing in the Dominican Republic during the Olympic qualifiers in July of last month.”
“Meanwhile, three other members have recently returned from the Super Y League experience played earlier this summer in Boston, Massachusetts and Valencia, Spain respectively. This means we will be counting on them with their leadership and share their knowledge with their teammates,” said Mr Boyles.
Bermuda will play their first match on Tuesday August 16th, against Antigua and Barbuda and their second and final game against host country Bahamas Thursday August 18th. The two games will kick-off 7pm Bermuda time, 6pm Bahamian time.
