Cricket: Glenn Blakeney Jr Breaks County Record
Fans at the Sea Breeze Oval on Saturday [Aug.13] were treated to a batting display by Glenn Blakeney Jr, as he and Bailey’s Bay rewrote the Eastern County Record Books.
Mr Blakeney went on to make a record 218 runs, which broke the Eastern County individual scoring record crossing Noel Gibbons’ 183 against Flatt’s Victoria in 1983.
Meanwhile Bailey’s Bay also set a new Eastern County scoring record when they posted 448/6 on the scoreboard, this also surpassed the 405 runs Bailey’s Bay scored against Flatt’s Victoria in 1983.
Mr Blakeney faced 120 balls, hitting 16 sixes and 18 fours. He entertained the crowd with his batting display, including hitting the first ball of the second over of the game overboard, forcing the umpires to get a new ball eight balls into the match.
