Upcoming: Bermuda Sand Sculpture Competition

The Bermuda Department of Tourism is hosting the 16th Annual Bermuda Sand Sculpture Competition on September 3, 2011.

The competition, which takes place at Horseshoe Bay Beach, encourages travelers of all ages to showcase their creativity as they construct sculptures made of the island’s natural pink sand. With sculpting kicking off at 10 a.m. and continuing until 4 p.m., participants will be given a theme and 12-by-12 foot building area.

Judging and an awards presentation will immediately follow, with cash prizes awarded to the Best Amateur Sand Sculpture in the competition. Contestants will have the chance to win a grand prize of $1,000. The Second Place winner will receive $500, and $250 will be awarded to Third Place
