79-Yr-Old Tourist Dies During Snorkeling Tour

A 79-year-old American tourist died yesterday [Sept.18] after a medical emergency while on a snorkeling tour in the west end. The police said there are no suspicious circumstances, however an autopsy is anticipated.

A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service can confirm the death of a 79 year old American visitor to the Island. Around 11:20am on Sunday September 18th, police received a report of a medical emergency.”

“It appears that the 79 year old visitor was on a snorkeling tour in waters approximately one mile off the west end when he was discovered in an unresponsive state. CPR was commenced and the victim was rushed ashore where he was attended to by EMTs.”

“However, he was pronounced dead at 12:55pm by an on-call physician. There are no suspicious circumstances but an autopsy is anticipated.”
