XVIth Pan American Games Update
The XVIth Pan American Games, continued for the Bermuda Athletes as Lisa Blackburn hit the Pool.
Blackburn swam the Women’s 200 IM. Blackburn recorded a time earlier this summer clocking 2:25.56, however this morning she touched the line in a time of 2:31.87, that saw her finish 18th overall and 2 places outside the B Final.
Ben Smith the Bermuda National Swimming coach said, “Blackburn is swimming good early season times and she will be able to gain experience and information on where she is in her preparation for her qualification bid for the Olympic Games.”
“Blackburn will be returning to Naples Florida after a short return to Bermuda. There she will be aiming to improve her race speed and technique so we can expect better results at her next meet,” continued Smith.
Smith went on to say, “Blackburn has just recently started this new program in Naples and it will take time to settle in before we will see the improvements under her new coach.”
“It was exciting to see Danielle Beaubrun from Saint Lucia swim 1:10.63 and make the Olympic qualifying time. Within the Caribbean region we are small teams and we work to support one another,” concluded Smith.
