Bermuda-Based Mahoney To Head Sciemus
Sciemus, the London-based specialty managing general agency, analytics and modelling firm is set to appoint Bermuda-based broking veteran Dennis Mahoney as chairman, industry journal “The Insurance Insider” has reported.
Mr. Mahoney will become chairman of the board on Monday [Nov. 28]
The former Aon chairman is understood he is also to become an investor in the company and will be a hands-on chairman, driving the company’s commercial strategy from his base in Bermuda.
Mr. Mahoney was named chairman of Aon Global in 2007 and served in this position until his retirement in May 2009. Previously, he served as chairman and CEO of Aon Limited and was responsible for the overall coordination of all the Aon operations located in the UK. Dennis was also a member of Aon Corporation’s Policy Committee, which met monthly.
In September 2003, he was appointed executive chairman of Aon Re Global, with responsibility for all of Aon’s reinsurance broking operations worldwide. In 1996, he was elected as the first chairman of the World Insurance Network [WIN].
Maybe I’m not pronouncing it correctly, but why would anyone want to name their company “Scheme Us”.
On the other hand, now that I think of it, the name fits quite well for an insurance modelling firm.
You’re pronouncing it incorrectly; say it as “shay-moose.”
I was thinking the same thing…
i am pretty sure they went for the Latin word, which translates as “we shall know”.
