Halloween: Eggs Thrown, But No Damage
The Police said that over Halloween there were several reports of eggs being thrown, but no reported injuries or reports of damaged property.
A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their cooperation during Halloween. Police officers were out on patrol from Monday October 31st into Tuesday November 1st and despite several reports of eggs being thrown Monday evening, there were no reported injuries or reports of damaged property.”
Police Commissioner Michael DeSilva held a press conference before Halloween, warning the police “will be out in full force and we will act swiftly against those who try to spoil it for everyone else.”
“Our operation has already commenced to double up on resources on the street, and we will run it until Tuesday,” said the Commissioner. “Extra officers are now on patrol and officers will be riding along on the public buses, especially on Monday. The number one activity we wish to deter is throwing objects at the traffic.”
The Commissioner continued on to say that, “This is an inherently dangerous offence that has become a local tradition over the years that we all need to bring to an end. Our experience tells us that the offenders are almost always teenagers and that compels me to put extra pressure on parents this year: please control your children so the police won’t have to.”
Good to hear! (That is was pretty much a quiet Halloween). Maybe the rain helped a bit!
That’s good,,,,,,,,but why do they sit on the bus,,,,,,,the time it takes for the bus to stop after the momentum it has,,,,without causing an accident…….you get off the bus…..then run and chase after the perps………..the perps would have long been dogged into someones house
@ Random 16yr old girl: It’s called a deterrent, not prevention. The aim is to quell nonsense on public transportation, not stop what your peers/”perps” are doing in the cowardess of the bushes in their back yards.
Excellent proactive work BPS!
Never understood why people celebrate this damn HELLoween. It’s evil and vile. Why would you dress your children up as something ugly and evil and reward them with something sweet? Why not dress up as something that brings sweetness to society and neighbors give you a sweety if you are a sweety. See the ducation we give children from young indoctrinates the expectation that they’ll be rewarded with sweetness for their wicked behaviour. Stupid custom!
