Photos: 2011 Fire Service Safety Week Awards
At the closing ceremonies of the Fire Safety Awareness Week held earlier this week [Nov. 4] at the Hamilton Fire Station, certificates of merit were handed out to Bermuda school children who participated in the annual essay and poster contests held in conjunction with Fire Safety Awareness Week.
Winners in the 2 – 4 years old division were: First Place Esi Naylor Tree Tops II Preschool, Second Place Isabella Simmons Tree Tops II Preschool, Third Place Shia Bean Heritage Nursery & Preschool with an Honourable Mention Jonah Simmons Heritage Nursery & Preschool.
Winners in the 5 – 6 years old division were: First Place Jamie Peckett Saltus Grammar School, Second Place Sarah Cross Warwick Academy, Third Place Ryan Lemoine Saltus Grammar School, with an Honourable Mention Kyla Philpott Dalton E. Tucker Primary.

Winners in the 7 – 10 years old division were: First Place Malay Robinson West End Primary, Second Place Noah Botelho Northlands Primary, Third Place Anushka Jayathunga West End Primary, Honourable Mentions Alexcie Burrows Northlands Primary and Jadaesha Adesa Northlands Primary.
The winners of the 11 – 13 years old division was Jean-Pierre Lucas Sandy’s Middle School. The winners of the Fire Safety Awareness Week 2011 Essay Contest “Protect Your Family from Fire” in the 7 – 10 years old division were: First Place Yasmin Eve-Townsend Purvis Primary, Second Place Isaiah Cabral Purvis Primary, and Third Place Khyin Thompson Purvis Primary.
