Tucker’s Point Staff Training Overseas

November 24, 2011

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has launched the Cross Exposure Training Programme at Rosewood Tucker’s Point in Bermuda.

The programme provides select employees with training opportunities to experience and learn from other properties within the Rosewood collection.

Bermudians Laura Bolton, Andre Cannonier and Antonio Moniz are the first employees at Rosewood Tucker’s Point to participate in the company’s Cross Exposure Training Programme.

Ms. Bolton spent three weeks at The Carlyle, a Rosewood Hotel, the iconic hotel on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, shadowing the Guest Relations Manager so she could assume the role at Rosewood Tucker’s Point.

Golf Course Superintendents, Mr. Cannonier and Mr. Moniz, were given the opportunity to work alongside their counterparts at CordeValle, a Rosewood Resort, a secluded luxury golf resort in the foothills of the Santa Cruz mountains in northern California, to prepare and maintain the golf course for the Frys.com Open, a PGA Tour event held in October.

“At Rosewood, we are passionate about and committed to providing professional development opportunities for our employees,” said Brian Young, Managing Director of Rosewood Tucker’s Point. “Through exposure to our properties around the world, we are fortunate to be able to provide unique, hands-on employee training that will strengthen our abilities to serve our guests here in Bermuda.”

Since becoming Rosewood Tucker’s Point in April 2011, the property has undergone many changes to ensure the hotel meets the Rosewood standard of luxury, including appointing Ms. Bolton as Guest Relations Manager. In this newly created role, Ms. Bolton liaises closely with VIP guests in making sure all of their needs are taken care of whether it be arranging transportation and reservations or making a personal connection so the guests feel special.

“I truly enjoyed my experience in the Cross Exposure Training Programme and I am grateful that I was given the opportunity to learn from such a prestigious property as The Carlyle,” said Ms. Bolton. “It’s a really exciting time at the property right now. The Rosewood name along with the Rosewood style of guest service brings a new level of luxury accommodation to the island.”

During their time at CordeValle, Mr. Cannonier and Mr. Moniz were fortunate to hone their golf course maintenance skills as they helped to prepare the course for the Frys.com Open.

“Being able to take part in the Cross Exposure Training Programme was extremely beneficial for me,” said Mr. Cannonier. “Not only is the learning process so much more effective when it’s hands-on but also I was able to bring back the knowledge I gained and share it with the rest of the team as well as apply it to the work we do here.”

The Cross Exposure Training Programme is quickly getting off the ground at Rosewood Tucker’s Point as the company has budgeted for more than twice the number of employees to participate in the global programme next year.

“To be selected for the Cross Exposure experience is an honour as it recognises the skills and ambition for development of the individuals chosen,” said Mr. Young. “We congratulate Laura, Andre and Antonio for embracing the opportunity and we look forward to more Rosewood Tucker’s Point employees participating in the program.”
