Second Screening For “The Interrupters”

November 1, 2011

A second screening has been added for “The Interrupters”, an award-winning film about the crime prevention programme, CeaseFire Chicago.

The film will screen on Saturday [Nov. 5] at 6 p.m. in the Tradewinds Auditorium of the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute. It screened to a sold-out audience at the Bermuda Documentary Film Festival in October.

“The Interrupters” tells the moving and surprising stories of a year in the life of three “violence interrupters”
at CeaseFire, who try to protect their communities from the violence they once employed.

The film was made by Chicago-based director/producer Steve James (Oscar-nominated for “Hoop Dreams”) and award-winning author-turned-producer Alex Kotlowitz (“There Are No Children Here”), whose original article inspired the film.

Tickets are on sale now from the Oceans Gift Shop at the BUEI, or by calling 297-7314.

Bermuda Docs is presented by Mini, and sponsored by Stella Artois, North Rock Communications Ltd., Belco  and the Bermuda Arts Council. The festival’s host hotel is the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.
