Trust’s St. George’s Christmas Walkabout

November 23, 2011

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas with the Bermuda National Trust announcing its annual holiday season walkabout in St. George’s.

Trust executive director Jennifer Gray says the walk in the old town — which has become something of a Bermuda Christmas tradition in recent years — will be held on Friday December 2 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

“The excitement and romantic ‘yester-year’ elegance that the Bermuda National Trust Walkabout brings to St. George’s should not be missed,” she said. “It is a special event with the pulse of history beating strongly.”

There will be entertainment throughout the town and refreshments will be served at various locations marked on a map of St. George’s to be distributed on the evening.

For children there will be Christmas crafts at St. Peter’s Church Hall — now renamed the Edith Clair Spencer Hall — and Santa and his elf will be there to listen to the little ones’ Christmas wishes.

“The Trust’s Walkabout has become a popular community event with the generous support of volunteer musicians and school groups marking the start of the Christmas season,” said Ms Gray. “We invite people to explore some of the oldest continually occupied buildings in the New World which will be decorated and candle lit for the event.

“We look forward to seeing you there.”
