Beach Clean-Up At Church Bay

December 6, 2011

Bermuda Ocean Explorers and Keep Bermuda Beautiful [KBB] are hosting a marine debris clean-up at Church Bay, Southampton on Sunday [Dec. 11] from 2:00 p.m. through 4:00 p.m.

A short presentation by KBB will begin at 2:00 p.m. sharp, with the clean-up following after.

“Church Bay is small, but this will be a perfect opportunity to collect bottles and larger items and focus more on sifting through the sand to collect smaller items such as bottle caps, fragments of plastic, straws, used glow sticks,” a spokesman for the organisers said.

KBB and sponsors will be providing gloves and bags and there will be food, snacks, juice, water and music provided. Look forward to special guests, giveaways, prizes and special announcements.

The event will be postponed in the event of heavy rain. For further information call please call 599-5080 or follow the event on Twitter @bdaoceanexplore for live updates.

Carl Wade of Bermuda Ocean Explorers said the Church Bay clean-up was inspired by “One Beach”, a recent short film on global efforts to keep the world’s shorelines barefoot-friendly.
