Man Hospitalized After Assault

A 37-year-old Somerset man is in stable condition on a general ward after being assaulted on Sunday night [Jan.22] in the area by Leopards Club.

A police spokesperson said, “Around midnight on Sunday, January 22nd police responded to a reported assault in the area of Angle Street and Brunswick Street in Pembroke.

“It appears that the victim, a 37 year old Sandys parish man, was assaulted by another man with a bladed article,” said a police spokesperson. Unofficial reports indicate the “bladed article” may have been some form of a machete.

Police said the assailant is described as a “short black male of medium build, wearing a tan or grey coloured hooded top and dark coloured pants.”

“The victim was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment and at last check was in stable condition on a general ward.

“Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.”
