Minister To Attend Bahamas Conference
Minister of Business Development Wayne Furbert will be travelling to Bahamas this weekend to participate in the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s [CTO] Council of Ministers meeting.
The CTO meeting will be taking place at the Atlantis Hotel tomorrow [Jan.22]. The agenda will focus on such issues as the as the airline passenger duty tax imposed by the UK government, as well as current challenges affecting the tourism industry.
Minister Furbert will also attend the CHA Marketplace event where all major wholesalers and tour operators from the USA, Canada and Europe, doing business to Bermuda, will be in attendance.
Minister Furbert said, “It is key for Bermuda to participate in major industry events such as this. This is about building and strengthening relationships with our overseas partners, and I very much look forward to flying the Bermuda Tourism flag at the CTO conference.”
The Minister will be attending a marketing event which is being hosted by Bermuda’s largest producer of business, Expedia Inc. today [Jan.22]. Bermuda will host its own partner reception on Sunday, January 22.
Also attending the event will be General Managers and representatives from Bermuda’s hotels including: Fairmont Southampton and Hamilton Princess, Elbow Beach, Newstead, Cambridge Beaches, Rosewood Tucker’s Point, Grotto Bay Beach Hotel and Coco Reef hotel.
Thank God the PLP had the sense to appointment a former UBP leader to one of the most Cabinet Ministries. Bring back the UBP, they knew how to get things done!
Here the PLP go again sending Ministers at our expense to some unnecessary Council of MINISTERS meetings for CTO member countries?!
