Police Arrest Suspect After Chase
At approximately 11am yesterday morning [Jan.23] police were alerted to four men wearing black clothing acting suspiciously around homes in the Devonshire area, and after chasing the suspects arrested a 17-year-old male in possession of suspected stolen property.
Multiple police vehicles were seen driving through the Friswells Hill, Frog Lane, Border Lane and Devonshire Rec areas, while loud sirens could be heard as marked police vehicles repeatedly drove through the area.
A police spokesperson said, “Around 11am on Monday, January 23rd police were alerted to four men wearing black clothing acting suspiciously around homes in the Schools Drive, Devonshire area.
“Officers immediately responded to the scene and located the suspects, who attempted to flee on foot.
“After pursuing the alleged perpetrators through the neighbourhood, a 17 year old Pembroke man was apprehended nearby in possession of suspected stolen property. Inquiries into this matter are ongoing.
“The Bermuda Police Service has identified a trend in burglaries, with many recent incidents occurring during the daytime, throughout the island.
“All residents are reminded to remain vigilant regarding burglaries by securing their valuables out of sight, recording serial numbers of all items and taking pictures of their possessions. In addition, please remember to secure your vehicles and to close and lock your windows and doors.”
17 year old should still be in school!!!!! give him a lashing he won’t forget. We are waiting for you to break into our house. Herculeese will have you for breakfast, lunch and dinner!!!!!
Does Herculeese have any brothers ? I need to get a dog.
glad they got those b$#tards, that’s my neighborhood
Again talk to your kids parents, don’t want to see you on the news saying “my son is/was a good boy” that was the half you knew.
@ JAWS – I absolutely agree with you. The parents aren’t doing their job in raising their children, and they should be held responsible. In Europe parents have to pay a fine when their kids vandalize etc. Having said that, these kids have a brain and know right from wrong, they are actively making a decision to do wrong and also need to be held accountable. Bootcamp comes to mind…
@ JAWS and Casi how do you know that these parents are NOT talking to their kids? Really how do you know? I work with children and meet with parents on a regular basis and trust me when I tell you SOME of them ARE being raised in the right way. Casi you did hit the nail on the head with your comment “these kids have a brain and know right from wrong” however they are CHOOSING to make wrong decisions. So I am not in agrrement that parents should be held accountable in SOME cases. You can talk to your children “until the cows come home” and not be effective. Its not from lack of doing though. None of us are with our children 24/7. I know I am not with mine but I would like to think that the values that have been instilled at home are carried out with them into Society. I have seen so called “good kids” get into trouble, I have seen children brought up in Church get into trouble, I have seen children whose parents will whoop their butt in a hearbeat get into trouble and I have seen children with supportive parents (coming from both single and two parent homes)get into trouble. Life is about CHOICES and I’m sorry the parents are NOT always to blame. The blame should be placed at the individuals feet because They HAVE been TAUGHT and should know better!!!!
If I was his mother and the BPS called me to tell me they arrested my son. They better lock me up because I will knock his damn lights OUT and then he will suffer the consequences of his action, regardless if he may have happened to be at the crime scene and says he did not do nothing.
Its really hurtful to know that we raise our children with good moral standards and they allow themselves to be influenced by their friends for stupidity.
PARENTS THE MORE WE ARE IN TUNE WITH OUR CHILDREN THE BETTER OUR SOCIETY WILL BE.
Pepper,
Sorry no siblings, but get your self a big dog. And a nice baseball bat, cause if Herculeese doesn’t want to finish him off, his master will!!!!!Time has come for all to arm ourselves.
heey Porto .peace to you..yup ya gotta point there,,we should be able to arm and protect ourselves and families no matter where we go in this country,, and even more so in your home..Peace Good Health and Happiness to you and those close to you
so true
Last year, a Cedarbridge student told his teachers he felt sick and was released from school mid morning. After leaving school, he stole a motorcycle, which was parked on Reid Street,in broad daylight, while in uniform and left the bike parked blocking my neighbour’s access to their house. The owner saw the student ride off with the bike and managed to track him down. The thief agreed to reunite her with the bike. He had to retrieve the keys from another location and made sure he used a piece of paper so that his fingerprints weren’t left on the keys. He had to have been an experienced thief to think like one. He may have been doing break-ins as well.
have him carry a sign saying ‘im a thief’ and walk front and court streets for a week. if he stops or leaves those streets then straight to jail !!!!!
I got not one but two baseball bat type pieces of wood here at my place. Worse than baseball bats cos they are broken table legs and sharp at one end. You come in my place, you will be carried out feet first. You people disgust me.
ARE THESE YOUNG MEN EVEN THINKING OF THEIR MATURE YRS ! WHAT R THEIR PLANS ! BAD BOYS BAD BOYS WAT YA GONNA DO – KEEP RUNNING OR GET A LIFE !!!!
@ Freddy G: Actually, brain scans of teenagers show clearly that the parts of the brain that help us make good choices, that help us understand consequences, don’t fully form until we are in our 20s. That is why teens often think they are invincible and are surprised by jail and the courts. They are not adults yet, although they look like it and try to act like it. I remember how I thought at 16, 17 and 18. And how much different I viewed life in my 20s. Sadly, by that time, I had already borne two children, poor things. I remain eternally grateful that my kids survived my inept mothering and are not criminals, junkies or alcoholics. Fortunately for them, me and society, they had a ‘village’ in the form of my mother and her siblings, their teachers, and the parents of their friends.
Good job BPS. 4 more punks locked up.
What’s the odds on them getting bail?
Baseball bats and table legs are good. But my steel shafted 3 irons will make a really big dent in your cranium if you try my place.
Fore !!
I have a police flash light right next to my bed… The long one…
