Photos: The People’s Market Reopens

February 9, 2012

Scores of shoppers made their way to Cedarbridge Academy on Saturday [Feb.4] for the re-opening of the People’s Market.

Organizers say that visitors to the market can expect “weekly live entertainment, family activities [such as father-daughter races, scavenger hunts, etc] and other great additions that will keep Bermudians and tourists entertained every Saturday.”

The market opened at 10:00 am with a deejay on hand playing music. Entertainment continued throughout the day with a line up of singers, majorettes and gombeys.

Many vendors set up tables displaying their goods with a large variety of items available. For those getting ready for Valentine’s Day, a few vendors had gifts specific to the big day.

Other items for sale included music CD’s by local artists, clothing, footwear, fresh baked goods, body oils, fresh produce, potted plants, jewellery, popcorn, honey sticks, electronics, books, beauty products and more. Owners of the classic mobylette also made their bikes available for viewing.
