Archives Committee Thanks Chief Justice

March 11, 2012

The Chief Justice Hon. Richard Ground who is the Chairman of the Archives Committee was presented earlier this week by with a water colour painting by the Minister of Government Estates and Information Services Michael Scott, as an expression of the Bermuda Archives Committee’s appreciation and thanks for the Chief Justice’s service as Chair of the Committee.

The Minister of Government Estates and Information Services noted that the artist’s paintings have enormous significance as the Thomas Driver Collection of watercolors of Bermuda, and was sure that it would provide a pleasant reminder of Bermuda for Chief Justice and Mrs. Ground who hands over the Chair of the Committee to incumbent Chief Justice Dr. Ian Kawaley.

Minister Scott also noted a very special connection between the artist Thomas O’Brien Mills Driver and Mr. Justice Ian Kawaley, and that is that Mr. Justice Kawaley is a modern descendant of Thomas Driver whose daughter Althea Frances Driver, married Horatio Musson and Mr. Justice Kawaley’s mother Mrs. Elizabeth Musson Kawaley is a direct descendant of Horatio Musson.
