Dept. Of Planning Appoints Tamsyn Doran

March 25, 2012

Ms Tamsyn Doran was appointed to the post of Planner after 10 years of work experience within the Department of Planning.

Ms Doran began her career with the Department in 2000 as a summer student working in the Forward Planning Section.

“I was eager for the opportunity to have a ‘real life’ experience in the field of planning in determining if this was what I wanted to do as a career,” Ms Doran explained.

“That first summer experience lasted about two months and enabled me to ‘home in’ on a tangible career path which resulted in me refining and refocusing my studies as I embarked on my undergraduate degree in Geography [Urban Systems] at McGill University.”

Ms Doran continued: “The Director at the time saw my natural interest in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and the field of planning and encouraged me to write to the Department of Planning to request consideration be given in allowing me to work as a Trainee Planner upon the successful completion of my degree in 2001.

“I was fortunate enough to be awarded the Trainee Planner position in 2002 and thereon worked hard with the ultimate goal of holding a Planner post within the Department.”
