Golf: Bacardi National Par 3 Preview

The 3rd Bacardi National Par 3 Championships being held this weekend at the Fairmont Golf Course, ith a bumper field this year of 116 players all looking to become the Champion.

Defending Champion, Nick Taylor returns to defend his title and will face stiff competition against the likes of former PGA Tour Player, Ian Leggett. The Gosling’s Invitational Champion, Joe Horowitz is also in the field along with other star studded players such as former Canadian Open winner Ian Doig and local champions, Dwayne Pearman and Daniel Augustus, two of many local professionals that could top the leader board. There is also a very strong continent of PGA of Canada Professionals and representatives flying in to challenge for the title.

The Amateur Division is just as strong with the likes of Three Time Bermuda Match Play Champion, Jarryd Dillas in the field, along with BGA President, Nick Mansell; Frazer Hunt and Ryan Roberts all plus handicaps. Flying in from the UK is talented youngster Tom Bayliss a + 2 handicap and only 18 years old and no stranger to winning. He won the PEE WEE Open in the United States at just 8 years old, recently winning the Hinge Trophy, a seniors event in Kent. Just two of many impressive titles under his belt.

Senior Match Play Champion, Terry Mullan is in the field but will face strong opposition from the likes of Hav Trott and current Port Royal Senior Champion, Richard Jones. This is the first year that the seniors will have their own division dedicated to long time friend of many in the golfing fraternity, Lionel Pengelly who recently passed away.

The ladies division is also very strong and will prove to be just as exciting with the reigning match play Champion, Katrin Burnie in the field along with Kathy Lloyd-Hines; Ebonie Burgess and Katyna Rabain.
