Guy Sansom Joins UniRisk In London

Guy Sansom has been named managing director for Europe by Universal Risk Intermediaries, Inc., a part of Bermuda’s Universal Holdings.

An insurance and financial firm which designs, organises and implements alternative risk transfer solutions, UniRisk works with major insurance carriers to develop profitable partnerships for companies, groups and associations seeking alternatives to the standard insurance marketplace.

Mr. Sansom brings more than 30 years of achievement as a London-based executive in the North American insurance market, specializing in property and casualty.

His experience includes oversight and development of new construction business in North America for JLT, the construction insurance partners of choice for Europe’s largest contractors and project owners, and financiers around the world.

Prior to that, he handled all casualty lines as a broker with Price Forbes and Partners; served as director of casualty and property insurance at Heath Lambert; and was Chandler Hargreaves’ director in charge of North American casualty, property and facilities business.

From the JLT offices in Canada, Mr. Sansom developed new networks of agents throughout the US and new interest in the emerging market for public-private partnership projects in North America.

According to UniRisk president Greg Lang, Mr. Sansom will be based in London and represent UniRisk in the European insurance and reinsurance market on behalf of their clients.

He will also develop new business opportunities in North America, particularly captive ownership for Canadian companies, to be managed by UniRisk’s Bermuda operations, utilizing tax benefits available under the 2011 Canadian/Bermuda tax treaty.

UniRisk was launched in 1994 as part of Universal Holdings in Bermuda.

The firm conducts its Bermuda operations along with its affiliated insurance/reinsurance company, Capitol Security Ltd, through R&Q Quest Management Service Limited.
