Pompano Golf Tournament – Round 1
A record 32 couples flied in to participate in the 15th Annual Pompano Couple’s Tournament, with the first round beginning yesterday [Mar.4] at Belmont Hills.
TEAM NET DIVISION – “Dark n Stormy Flight”
Tim and Lynn Meeker from Wilmington, NC get off to a flying start despite the windy condition by posting a 7 under 63 net today in their first round at Belmont Hills. Tied for second place at 3 under 67 are Bill & Stephanie Susetka, Palm Beach, FL; Dan & Julie Colclaser, Wilmington, NC and Jim and Nancy Crane from Guimon, OK..
TEAM NET DIVISION – “Rum Swizzle Flight”
Hayes and Annie Shimp from Chapel Hill, NC also had a fine start with a 5 under 65 today taking a slim 3 shot lead after day one over Robert and Pat Quain also representing Chapel Hill, NC.
TEAM GROSS DIVISION
Robert and Pat Quain, Chapel Hill, NC fired an impressive 4 over 74 giving them the overnight
lead by 5 shots. In second place is the couple from Richardson, TX; Allen and Rebecca Iverson
with a 9 over 79 in their first round.
Prizes will be awarded in the gross and net division. Due to popular demand the tournament, the couples have been placed into two flights based on their combined index. ‘A” Dark n Stormy Flight and the “B” Rum Swizzle Flight. The event has also been increased to a four day tournament and continues today at Port Royal Golf Club
starting at 9am. The format tomorrow is a 2 ball modified scramble.
