Premier Cox: ‘Exciting Time For Bermuda’
Premier Paula Cox had an eventful Easter Weekend which commenced on Good Friday, in the town of St. George with the interdenominational re-enactment of the last moments in the life of Jesus Christ.
This Interdenominational Service attracted both locals and tourists. Also, in attendance was the Premier’s husband and son [Germain Nkeuleu and Stephane Nkeuleu], Dame Jennifer Smith, Minister Wayne Furbert, and UBP Leader Kim Swan.
This was followed by a visit to the St. David’s Cricket Club, where the President of the Club hosted the Premier in a walkabout to family stalls and vendors. The Premier was met by area MP Lovitta Foggo and Senator David Burt who were present to enjoy the local festivities. The Premier concluded the community visits at West Pembroke School where there was a community fun day activity taking place.

That evening, the Premier was present at the National Stadium to officially open the 2012 Carifta Games. The Premier was joined by Governor Sir Richard Gozney, the Bermuda Track and Field Association President Donna Watson, Minister of Youth, Families and Sports, Glenn Blakeney, and North American, Central American And Central Athletic Association President Teddy McCook.
The Premier stated, “This is truly an exciting time and opportunity for Bermuda. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Bermuda Track and Field President Donna Watson and her organizing team, and all of the volunteers for creating a first class event for the island of Bermuda.

“This event puts Bermuda at the epicenter of our region and as Carifta is being televised all through our region many more people will learn about our island home.
“I also would like to commend the island athletes for the sacrifices they have made in their respective sports. We are honored to have you represent us and no matter what you have placed in your events you are all winners to us.”
Lets hope all this good will continues.
Exciting? Machete attacks, shootings, international business leaving the island, arrogant government who do not believe they can be beaten, joblessness, home invasions, bike attacks, joke cricket team….yeah, you can always pick bad news, but really – exciting? You have got to be kidding. By anyone’s standards these are dark days Paula.

It is as a result of the the small minded idiots like yourself why Bermuda continues to run backward. It truely amazes me as to no matter how positive anything maybe you and people like yourself will always try and find a way to put a spin on it. According to your posting above I guess its the fault of the hon paula for everything that goes wrong including the small minded thoughts you appear to throw out.When I sit and read the garbage you post it only leaves me to wonder how much of a life you have and I try to imagine how misrible it must be to be in your inner circle. Grow up A$$ and learn not to allow your small mind to be as restricted as the 21 square you live in. And just for your info I to am a Bermudian and proud of it. Lets see how much you have to offer other then the garbage you post here.
Very Bermudian trait to run around pretending everything is wonderful while the place is falling apart around you. SMI, I see nothing positive about her good self attending en famille a few events; yes all very pleasant but it solves nothing. The Queen and her family do these sorts of things, not politicians who should stick to their jobs…Or do we in fact have a queen?
Good to see the premier out. I had a wonderful good friday and easter Holiday Weekend.
Though we had isolated issues of violence we also had a sucessful tourism event at horshoe bay, wonderful weather for family days across the island, many PEACEFUL events at night, CARIFTA, and easter.
Also let us be thankful for small mercies that no-one lost their life. Its not lost on many that there was a machette attack in broad daylight as opposed to a gun attcack. It’s sad that we must measure our “progress” in that way, however we must continue to support the police and we all need to be better citizens and report what we know.
In the end, I agree, it is an exciting time for Bermuda, and I am PROUD to be Bermudian. There are many things to be proud of!
I’m sorry where did the Premier or anyone say that everythng is perfect? So because we have our challenges she is supposed to not make any appearances? You all cannot have it both ways. The Premier visited different events this weekend and hats off to her. Had you not seen her at any events then it would be a different story you were trying to perpetuate.
