Weekend: Six Arrests For Drunk Driving

April 3, 2012

Over the weekend, police officers arrested 6 people on suspicion of impaired driving and 12 people for outstanding warrants.

Around 1:25am on Sunday [Apr.1], police on mobile patrol on Par-La-Ville Road in the City of Hamilton noticed a motorcycle driving erratically. Officers pursued the motorcycle and caused it to stop, and the rider — a 51 year old St. George’s man — was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained.

A few hours later, police came across a taxi and a motorcycle that had apparently been involved in a minor collision at the junction of Frog Lane and Devon Lane. There were no reported injuries.

The taxi driver — a 62 year old Devonshire man — was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving, failed the alco-analyser test and was detained in police custody as a result.

Around 8pm on Friday [Mar.30], police on mobile patrol at the junction of King Street and Union Street in Pembroke noticed a motorcycle driving erratically. Officers stopped the motorcycle and approached the rider, a 56 year old Pembroke man, who was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving, failed the alco-analyser test and was detained.

A court appearance for all three men is anticipated in due course.
