‘Erratic Driving’ Results In Two DUI Arrests
Two car drivers were arrested this weekend after police witnessed them driving in an erratic manner. Both drivers are expected to appear in court on charges.
A police spokesperson said, “Around 2am on Sunday May 20th, police on mobile patrol along Pender Road in Sandys noticed a car that was travelling erratically. Officers pursued the vehicle and caused it to stop along Malabar Road near the junction with Heydon Road.
“They approached the driver, a 28 year old Sandys man, who appeared to be intoxicated. He was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.
“He later failed the alco-analyser test and was detained in police custody as a result. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.
“Around 4am on Saturday May 19th, police were on mobile patrol along Middle Road in Devonshire when they noticed a car travelling erratically. Officers pursued the vehicle and stopped it on Middle Road near the junction with Corkscrew Hill.
“They approached the driver, a 30 year old Smith’s man, who appeared to be intoxicated. He was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained in police custody as a result. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.”
Over the weekend, police officers arrested 15 people for outstanding warrants. Officers also arrested six people on suspicion of impaired driving and conducted liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises throughout the island.
