May 18, 2012

15 new Bermuda Police Service recruits are currently undergoing an intensive 12 week training course in preparation to become police officers. Recruit Foundation Course #74 commenced on Monday May 7th, 2012 with the recruits being sworn in as Police Constables on Thursday May 10th, 2012. They are now on their second week of the 12 week programme.

A police spokesperson said, “Of the 15 recruits, there are five women and ten men who range in age from 22 – 45 years old. There are 11 Bermudians, two Spouses of Bermudians (a Trinidadian and a Canadian) and two status Bermudians (an American and a Canadian).

“The new student officers are as follows: PC 2443 Denique Archer, PC 2444 Michelle Berkeley, PC 2445 Joshua  Boden, PC 2446 Keisha Brooks, PC 2447 Stephen Dill, PC 2448 Te-ara Douglas, PC 860 Deforest Evans, PC 2449 Jerome Overbey, PC 2450 Milen Simons, PC 2451 Sean Simons, PC 2452 Jonathan Talbot, PC 2453 Keegan Taylor, PC 2454 Lisa-Nichole Tucker, PC 2455 Kion Wade and PC 2456 Ashun Wolffe.”

As four of these recruits recently graduated from the Police Cadet Programme, Inspector Charlene Thompson Officer in Charge of Training, Recruiting and Development says she has no doubt that she will see all 15 recruits remain at the end of the course. “It’s a life-changing experience,” she said. “They’ve all come with the will and determination to succeed.”
