Photos: Along The End-To-End Route

May 7, 2012

Over 2,600 people participated in Saturday’s [May 5] Catlin End-to-End, with the official start for walkers being held at 8am in St George’s Square. The Middle-to-End walkers left at 10am from Albouys Point in Hamilton, as did the End-to-End Cycle ride from St George’s, while the Middle-To-End Cycle ride started at 11am from Elbow Beach.

Also participating in this year’s event were swimmers, rowers and equestrians. Refreshment stops along the route were stocked with items such as water, sliced oranges, bananas and more. Many had music playing to encourage the walkers, and one stop had an appearance by a gombey troupe.

The annual event, now in its 25th year, raises pledge dollars from the participants and traditionally takes place the first Saturday in May. This years event will raise funds for charities including Age Concern, The Adult Education Centre, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Open Airways, The Family Centre, St. John Ambulance, and Youthnet.
