Upcoming: “Celebrating The Women Of The PLP”
The Progressive Labour Party is hosting a public forum “Celebrate the Women of Our Party”. This forum, which is open to the public, will be held at Alaska Hall on Thursday, May 31 at 7pm.
The forum will highlight many women who have contributed the Party, predominantly in supporting roles during the 1960s, 70s and 80s.
A PLP spokesperson said, “The public will be well aware of the national profiles of women such as Dame Lois Browne-Evans, Dr. Barbara Ball, Ms. Dorothy Thompson, Dame Jennifer Smith, and our current Party Leader the Hon. Paula A. Cox. However, there are many women who worked in the trenches during the toughest of times and made valuable contributions.
“Such women like Mrs. Rita Peniston, Mrs. Ann Webb, Mrs. Lovette Brangman, Mrs. Hyacinth Burgess, Mrs. Lorraine Fubler, Mrs. Elvira Warner, Mrs. Rosalie Douglas and Mrs. Aurelia Burch will be highlighted as those important change agents who have contributed to our social and political heritage.”
The forum will be moderated by LaVerne Furbert.

How about you celebrate the women of Bermuda and not of this stupid party that has run Bermuda’s finances into the ground. I’m not saying that we shouldnt celebrate the people that have made the PLP who they are today but ya’ll arent exactly worth celebrating for.
I was engaged until I read that Laverne Furbert was the facilitator. I am a registered voter under the age of 35.
