90 Min Rugby Video: Bermuda Defeat Bahamas
Playing in the Bahamas, the Bermuda National Rugby Team defeated the Bahamas 16-8 on Saturday [June 9], and will now play Guyana in the Caribbean Final and World Cup Qualifier for England 2015. The team returned home on Sunday evening, with Bermuda Coach Lawrence Bird saying, “We now have to turn our attention to Guyana knowing that a victory will see Bermuda qualify for the 2015 World Cup.”

Not the most attractive win but Bermuda will take it. Bad tempered affair, a lot of niggle off the ball. Shoulder barge/tackle on Neville Zuill’s head had intention to injure- should have been a red card. Bahamas more interested in attempting to physically intimidate Bermuda then play rugby. Shame because their try showed want they were capable of. Bermuda did well not to react and keep their composure. Pedantic referring did little to allow game to flow. Referee did not impose standards at the break down as such game was very stop/start. The one time Bermuda managed to develop some continuity- i.e. recycle through more than four phases of play- they scored. I was appalled at the poor sportsmanship by Bahamian crowd- jeering and wolf whistling during penalty kicks- not in the ethos of rugby. Bermuda showed the grit required to grind out the win. Onwards to the Caribbean championship against a dangerous Guyanese side- Go Bermuda!
