A number of cricket games took place across the island yesterday [June 2], with Western Stars defeating Somerset Bridge, St. David’s beating YMSC, Evening Cricket League Select chalking up a victory against PHC, and Southampton Rangers successful in their match up against Warwick Workmens.

Western Stars win by 8 Wickets, Somerset Bridge 92/9 Western Stars 98/2

At the Sea Breeze Oval, Somerset Bridge won the toss and elected to bat, they scored 92/9 in their allotted 20 overs, Tristan Smith and Dwayne Simons both scored 16, while Swayne Campbell returned bowling figures of 4-0-9-3 for Western Stars, while captain Brian Hall bowled 3-0-5-2. In reply Western Stars scored 98/2 in 16 overs, Temiko Wilson scored 41, while McLaren Lowe scored 31 not out, Noel Woods had bowling figures of 4-0-0-1 for Somerset Bridge, while Kaya Robinson bowled 3-0-16-1.

St. David’s Cricket Club win by 62 Runs, St. David’s Cricket Club 150/5 Young Men Social Club 88

At Lord’s in St. David’s, the home team won the toss and elected to bat. St. David’s Cricket Club scored 150/5 in their allotted 20 overs, Chris Foggo was the top scorer with 40, while Ryane Shephard returned bowling figures of 4-0-20-2 for Young Men Social Club. In reply Ryan Tyrell scored 21, but the nine men Young Men Social Club team was bowled all out for 88 in 18.5 overs, Fiqre Crockwell had figures of 1.5-0-8-2 for St. David’s Cricket Club.

Evening Cricket League Select win by 5 Wickets, PHC 162/6 Evening Cricket League Select 163/5

At the PHC Stadium, Colin Stewart scored 42 and Delray Rawlins added 32 to lead PHC to a total of 162/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Lionel Whal was the top bowler for the Evening Cricket League Select with figures of 4-0-16-2. In reply Craig Smith scored 59 not out as the Evening Cricket League Select reached their target with seven balls to spare, Stwewart and Charles Symons both collected 2 wickets for PHC.

Southampton Rangers win by 15 Runs, Southampton Rangers 103 Warwick Workmen’s 88/8

At the Southampton Oval, Curtis Jackson scored 17 as ten-men Southampton Rangers were bowled all out for 103, Damiko James had bowling figures of 3.1-0-14-3 for Warwick Workmens. In reply Lionel Cann and Dwayne Adams both scored 15 but Warwick Workmen’s could only manage 88/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Christian Gibbons and Alex Dore both returned figures of 4-0-12-2 for the Southampton Rangers.
