Local ‘Celebrities’ To Play Hiscox Cricket Match

Local ‘celebrities’ including Minister Glenn Blakeney, Minister Michael Scott, Minister Kim Wilson, Minister Michael Weeks, Minister Marc Bean, Dwayne “Sluggo” Leverock, radio personalities Power Girl and Nikita Robinson, comedian Nadanja Bailey, boxer Teresa Perozzi, runner Jay Donowa, cricketer Lionel Cann, and May 24th Champions Christopher and Ashley Estwanik will take to the pitch to participate in the upcoming 2012 Hiscox Celebrity Cricket Festival.

The 2012 Hiscox 11&U Celebrity Cricket Festival is to celebrate community based youth cricket and takes place on Saturday 7 July at the National Sports Centre, North Field.

The line-up for Saturday is as follows:

  • 11&U East vs. 11&U West – 9:30am start
  • Celebrities vs. 11&U National Team – 1pm start

There will be free children’s entertainment during the day including face painting, bouncy castle and slide. Lunch and a free t-shirt will be provided for the first 200 to attend.

There will be a raffle and all proceeds will go to the BCB Pee Wee Cricket Program.

Minister of Youth Affairs & Families, Glenn Blakeney said, “I fully support community based youth cricket as a wonderful opportunity to enable talented players of the game to be nurtured at an early stage of their development and harness excellence in sports.

“I also wish to commend our community partners – Hiscox Insurance Company in supporting the growth of cricket in Bermuda.”

Charles Dupplin, Chief Executive Officer, Hiscox Bermuda said, “The score is 2-1 to the U11s in the years to date and I know both sides will be very much looking forward to this next match which I hope will again prove a very popular family day out.”

Lloyd Fray, President of the Bermuda Cricket Board, stated, “The BCB is excited to partner once again to provide a fun family day of cricket for the community and to raise money for the BCB’s free Pee Wee Cricket Program.

“The Pee Wee Cricket program is the foundation of our Youth Development Program, which introduces the game of cricket in a fun, structured and safe environment. I would like to encourage the community to come out and support our future cricketers compete against an exciting line up of celebrities for a great family day out of fun!”
