Weather System Off Bermuda Better Organized

June 18, 2012

Thunderstorm activity associated with a small low pressure center located about 400 miles north-northeast of Bermuda has become better organized today [June 18], says the National Hurricane Center.

The low has gradually been acquiring tropical characteristics and is producing gale-force winds. If the thunderstorm activity persists, it could become a subtropical or tropical cyclone later today or Tuesday.

This system has a medium chance, 50%, of becoming a subtropical or tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours as it moves northeastward at around 10 mph.
