Paralympics: Jessica Lewis Finishes 8th In 200m

[Updated] Bermuda’s Paralympian Jessica Lewis will take to the track today [Sept 6] for the women’s 200 meter T53 event at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

The 19-year-old competed in her first event — the 100 meter T53 event — on September 2nd, becoming the first track and field athlete from Bermuda history to make an appearance at the Paralympic Games.

Speaking after that appearance Ms Lewis said: “Wow what a feeling it was to race in front of 80,000 people. I can’t even describe how amazing it felt to wear Bermuda on my back and race among the top women in the world. Thanks for all the support and kind words everyone. My Paralympic debut was a success.”

Ms Lewis will be in Lane #2 in this evening’s 200m finals, taking on competitors from Australia, China, the USA and Ghana. We will update with her results post-race.

Update 5.27pm: Ms Lewis finished 8th in the 200m a time of 34.76
