Traffic lights are in place on 174 Middle Road, Southampton as work is underway with BELCO relocating cables in conjunction with Government’s road-widening project. The Bermuda Police Service are encouraging motorists to use caution when traveling through this area or consider taking an alternate route until the project is completed.

A police spokesperson said, “The motoring public is advised to adhere to the traffic lights erected along Middle Road, Southampton near Waterlot Inn as BELCO performs work to relocate cables in conjunction with Government’s road-widening project.

“The traffic lights are necessary due to the equipment and trenching in the area. It is anticipated that the traffic lights will remain in place until September 29th.

“Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling through this area while the roadwork is ongoing or consider taking an alternate route until the project is completed.”

Dig a hole…leave it open..run back to it when complaints start…back up commuters to Heron Bay Marketplace and THEN issue a traffic advisory???? We all know how motorists ‘obey’ traffic lights…we sit and watch them come from behind us and run the red lights!! This is not good enough! Can we PLEASE have traffic officers manning the lights during ‘rush hours’ so that the flow makes sense during these times?
