New Executive Director for Amnesty Bermuda

Suzanne K. Wilson has been named as the new Executive Director of Amnesty International Bermuda.

Chairperson Nelleke Hollis said: “Suzanne brings to Amnesty International her experience in international business, ethical investment strategies for not for profit international funds, Bermuda hospitality and tourism, and for the last six years communications and media.

“Suzanne was born and raised in Bermuda, attended Warwick Academy and swam internationally for Bermuda. She has an MBA with a focus on International Business. A seasoned traveller, Suzanne has experienced life and lived for extended periods of time in Indonesia (as a Rotary Exchange student), Kenya, France, Scotland, England and Canada.

“Suzanne brings this world experience to Amnesty International to expand its influence in Bermuda and with the worldwide Amnesty International movement. The aim of Amnesty International is to campaign for human rights for all people; with more than 2.8 million members and supporters in more than 150 countries and regions, Amnesty International has significant influence.

“Suzanne, as the Executive Director, has the remit to co-ordinate the Bermuda team, increase the Bermuda membership and initiate Bermuda’s responses to human rights violations wherever they occur. With ever increasing globalization, where information travels quickly, it is important that Bermuda maintains its role within the world and is seen to be in touch with other cultures and countries and ensuring that human rights are actively observed and maintained.

“Bermuda, as a long established democracy, and with a non-threatening culture, is well placed to be a world leader in setting and maintaining moral standards and human rights.”
