BIOS Celebrating 110 Years Of Excellence

The Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences will be marking “110 years of excellence in marine science and education” with a gala celebration.

The event will also serve to welcome their new President and Director, Dr. William Curry and will be hosted by Mr. Brian Duperreault, Chairman, and the Board of Trustees of the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences.

The black tie gala celebration will take place on Friday [Nov9] at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess Hotel and starts with a cocktail reception in the Gazebo Lounge at 7.00pm. Dinner will be served in the Harbourview Ballroom at 8.00pm and the evening will include dancing to the Tommy Ray Band.

Guest Speaker for the evening is Dr. Sylvia Earle, a “visionary leader in marine exploration and the ocean’s greatest champion”. Dr Earle is an oceanographer, explorer, author, lecturer, Explorer-in-Residence at the National Geographic Society, leader of the Sustainable Seas Expeditions, council chair for the Harte Research Institute for the Gulf of Mexico Studies at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, founder and chairman of the Deep Search Foundation, and the chair of the Advisory Council for the Ocean in Google Earth.
